But many small nonprofits cannot afford to send them to expensive conferences. Through the AFP Every Member campaign, these new professionals get scholarships and invaluable learning experiences.

• A new fundraising professional in Milwaukee needs more than on-the-job-training to learn all she needs to know about her chosen profession. But the small nonprofit where she works cannot afford to send her to an expensive conference. Through the AFP Every Member campaign, she gets a scholarship and an invaluable learning experience.

• The Milwaukee chapter of AFP would like to bring in a well-known speaker to inform chapter members of current fundraising trends. Every Member Campaign funds can help defray the cost of such important educational activities that benefit the whole chapter.

• Is it all right to compensate a fundraiser by paying him a percentage of the amount raised? Should my nonprofit exchange donor lists with another nonprofit? These and many other ethical dilemmas face fundraisers daily. Every Member Campaign funds help the International AFP develop official "Standards of Professional Practice" and provide training to AFP members on ethical practices.

Each year, AFP accepts donations to its Every Member Campaign. The campaign not only raises money to help the International AFP Foundation promote philanthropy, but our local chapter receives direct benefits as well. If the chapter meets its Every Member goal, 25% of the total raised is returned directly to the chapter to support our local programming, scholarships, and discounted memberships.
