The Milwaukee Chapter
of AFP has several standing committees which provide services both
to members and to the community at large. To find out more, follow
the links below.
Awards Luncheon
Help stage the annual Partners in Philanthropy
Luncheon. Held during National Philanthropy Week, this high profile
event is growing every year. The Luncheon is held annually
at the Midwest Airlines Center, drawing over 800 guests in 2007.
This event provides a unique opportunity to celebrate role of philanthropy
in our community by honoring top individual, corporate and foundation,
and planned gift donors. There is also an award for best fundraising
professional. To join the committee, contact Mary
K. Albrecht.
Educational Programs
This committee selects and schedules
speakers for each chapter luncheon meeting held throughout the year.
Help us present the best educational workshops for our membership
by joining this committee. For more information, contact
Shannon Watry, CFRE.
Every Member Campaign
This annual fundraising campaign raises
money to help the International AFP Foundation promote philanthropy.
25% of the total raised by the chapter is returned to the chapter
to support our local programming, scholarships, and discounted memberships.
The Milwaukee chapter is consistently ranked first or second in
its membership category for funds raised. To join the team that
coordinates our local campaign, contact Jim
Hahn, CFRE.
Government Relations
Members of this committee stay informed
on legislative issues of interest to the nonprofit sector in general
and fundraising in particular. Throughout the year, they provide
short updates to the membership on these issues. In August/September
of each year, the committee organizes visits or phone calls to local
legislators to discuss issues of importance to our sector. To join
this committee, contact Mary
K. Albrecht.
Media Relations
Help publicize chapter happenings to
local news outlets. Join this committee by contacting
Debby Fulton.
New Members
The objective of this committee is to welcome new members to AFP.
New members receive a personal phone call from a committee member.
The committee also plans a new member social each year. For more
information, contact Lisa Pieper,
CFRE.
Recruitment
Members of this committee follow up on requests for membership information
and design membership recruitment strategies. For more information,
contact Lisa Pieper, CFRE.
Small Groups
One of the benefits of AFP membership is the ability to join one
of the chapter's small groups. Created to foster networking and
peer-to-peer sharing of fundraising knowledge, the small group program
helps everyone become better fundraisers. For more information,
contact Maripat Monahan.
Summer Study Institute
The Summer Study Institute is being re-evaluated. If you are preparing
to take your CFRE exam there are resources available to prepare
yourself that we will be happy to share with you.
Website
Web-savvy members are encouraged to join this new committee, which
will oversee the continual maintenance and updating of the chapter
website, annually review technical support to the website, and maintain
the chapter listserves. For more information, contact Mary
K. Albrecht.
