Our Mission:
Philanthropy -- voluntary action for the common good -- is a necessary element
of civic betterment and those activities which meet societal needs. Fund
raising is an essential discipline in the philanthropic process. The
Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), an individual member
association, advances philanthropy through education, training and advocacy
based on research, a code of ethical principles and standards of professional
practice. AFP members and affiliates enable people and
organizations to better serve diverse communities and society as a whole.
The AFP is a not-for-profit corporation organized in accordance with Section
501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code. |

Our Purposes:
The Association's purposes are to:

foster the development and growth of professional
fundraising executives committed to the preservation and enhancement of the
philanthropic process in our society;

establish a professional code of ethical standards and
practices;
- require of its members adherence
to a professional code
of ethical standards and practices ;
-
provide professional training opportunities for
fundraising professionals;
-
implement programs which assure cultural and social
diversity in its membership and leadership;
-
collect, research, publish, and disseminate historical,
management, and technical information about philanthropy and philanthropic
fundraising;
-
carry on activities to maintain and develop legislation
favorable to philanthropy;
-
enlist, organize, and support members for achievement
of its purposes;

foster international cooperation and exchange of
knowledge, techniques, and education among fundraising executives worldwide;

and engage in such other and further means as may be
necessary and proper to accomplish the foregoing purpose.
